Saturday night after Meri and her date headed off to prom from the grand march, I went home for a bit. Posted the pics to FB and then relaxed a little. I know!!! WHEN do I get time for that?!
Actually, I may be blocking... I probably did some laundry and dishes...
But anyway, at 11pm, Robb and I headed off to the after prom location, passing Meri and Matt on the road as we left town. Those two changed clothes quick and headed back to the school to catch a bus to the after prom venue. Robb and I had volunteered to help out and guess what we signed up for?...
BINGO!!! You guessed it!
Yep, the game Bingo...
From midnight until 3:30am, Robb and I took turns yelling out the BINGO numbers and giving away from fabulous cash prizes. Seriously.... There was $240 in just normal BINGO games alone and then tons of "special" BINGO games to play that were worth upwards of $25 each. Unbelievable...
I think the kids were afraid of us at first, so Meri broke the ice and came in to play one or two games. As soon as she sat down, a few others ran in in an attempt to beat her. They did. She got bored and left to play laser tag, Karaoke or something that didn't involve her parents.
At 3:30, all the games came to a screeching halt and the rest of the unused BINGO envelopes went to door prizes. Kids left with TVs, computers, cash and other fantastic things. Not to mention the smaller prizes they won playing some of the games around the facility, like Meri won a few t-shirts and a toilet bowl brush. WOOHOO!!! I know where THAT one is going!
I had two guessing jars submitted with $15 gift cards to Subway. There were SO many guessing jars, and the kids made guesses on all of them. FUn!
Meri and Matt waiting to see if they won a door prize. They didn't. And what is up with Matt's arm? My camera was acting funny in the weird lighting of the building.
We beat Meri home as she had to ride the bus back to the school first, THEN home. We all slept til 7 or so and then headed off to church. Meri didn't get a nap in on Sunday afternoon but WE did. Whew! Staying up all night is for the young... I'm too old for this...

This sound similar to the All Night Grad Party after graduation in our town. There is no official after Prom party but many parents host them to keep the kids from getting into things they shouldn't. Yours is a great idea. Both are times when good kids can make bad choices. My daughter wasn't invited to prom, and being only a sophomore couldn't be the asker, but she is happy to sit out another year (or forever she says).
What a great prom event!
This is a great prom event. Our school hosted an after party at the bowling alley. My daughter said it was great.
I love how everything you do is family oriented. So refreshing. And fun. And smart. I remember an after-party after grad night in highschool. It involved most of the teachers getting drunk. Not so fun.
How fun... what great memories..
