The boy went to see his mom last night so I spent the evening sewing. He had so many Halloween costume ideas, but his dad made him choose one.
Leon chose to be Luke Skywalker and his dad will be Darth Vader.
duh.
I happened upon a Darth Vader mask at the Good will, so Ryan just needs a cape and maybe a black t-shirt and black pants. We might be able to paint the t-shirt to look like the actual outfit. Don't know if he wants to go to that trouble tho.
As for Leon's outfit. I found a pattern that I'd made the PJ pants out of once before for Leon. But this time I used the bathrobe as the pattern. Shortened it a bit... and widened the end of the sleeves.
Here it is so far.
I'd wanted to try it on him before doing up the side seams and hem, but he took one look at it this morning through his sleepy grumpy eyes and started sobbing.
"THAT DOESN'T LOOK AT ALL LIKE LUKE SKYWALKER!!!"
Wow. He canNOT visualize at all... And as Robb said, I should have waited until he was more awake. and I was done with it completely.... sigh... That kid...
And for the record, it is EXACTLY like the one he pointed out on our google search.
AND it's fair quality. All the seams have been finished!
He calmed down eventually and asked if I'd be at the school for the Halloween party and help him dress. OF COURSE I WILL! I never pass up a party!!
So anyway, last night while I was sewing, Meri got home from work and I went down to eat a late supper with her. We talked and laughed when suddenly we heard a HUGE clatter, clunk and crash, from what sounded like upstairs.
Meri FLEW across the kitchen and cowered in the corner of the floor horrified.
"WHO IS UPSTAIRS??!!!! I THOUGHT YOU WERE HOME ALONE!!!!"
I was! Well, except for my MIL downstairs.
She grabbed a butcher knife and we crept up the stairs. I said, "You go first..." We peeked into my room and the bathroom, nope no one. We sneaked down the hall and checked out Leon, Ryan and the other bathroom, ripping back the shower curtain. WHO CLOSED THAT!!! They never close it typically. well, nothing.
We went all the way downstairs and checked on my MIL, but nothing had happened down there. But she had us move some furniture for her.
Ok, back up to the main floor with the knife!
The sound REALLY had sounded like it was from all the way upstairs, but we kept looking for the source.
We went out on the deck and found that the deck umbrella was open and laying weird next to the wall. It wasn't THAT breezy, but I supposed that the wind suddenly picked up and threw the umbrella at the wall and that's what made that clatter. Meri wasn't buyin' it and I had to help her bring the dogs in, she was that spooked.
I found out later that if you put your OTHER sewing machine on a memory foam mattress, it will eventually sink enough to tip over. and tumble off the bed, smacking the dresser and bed as it crashes to the floor. Yep, the side panel is broken now. yuck. BUT it will still work. I just use that old one for button holes these days anyway...
It's getting too close to Halloween...
