Bracing Myself...

Found on the kitchen counter early this morning...

Dear family,
Idk if you have something planned for my "last supper" or not but if not, here is a meal I'd like, but ultimately I'm fine with anything.  Need Salt Casserole with cheesy garlic bread and cheesy cauliflower or broccoli and zebra cakes for dessert.  I love you!
~ Your favorite,
Meri

And then later found on our personal family Facebook group.

The things I’ll miss:
• the weird conversations we end up having when it started off as completely normal
• sitting in the living room listening while mom sews and whistles along to whatever song is playing on the Irish radio station
• hearing how fast mom types when she literally does anything on a computer
• having dinner knowing that there’s dad’s spot, mom’s spot, and grandma’s spot and then the rest of them are up for grabs
• my clothes magically getting clean
• watching weird (surprisingly depressing) zombie shows with dad and Leon
• listening to dad’s cancer songs
• playing Pokémon with Leon even though he rigs it
• Leon hugging me almost every day
• having tickle fights with Leon
• listening to Leon explain all the games he plays to me.
• getting forced to watch Minecraft Music Videos
• the smell of home (whether it’s what was just cooked for dinner or it’s bleach after we just cleaned up dog puke)
• the really loud obnoxious sound the glass door makes when it slams shut
• beating everyone at ticket to ride
• mom telling me all about some show she’s watching or some movie where she literally spoils every part
• pretty much just everything

It's going to be a weird and emotional couple days...

That is such a sweet thing and so girlish. I think all we got when we dropped each son off at their 1st college "home" was "OK bye!"
