I re-read a note that came home for Leon a couple weeks ago. He's been practicing his line for a school program and has it nailed now. However the note said what the kids should wear for the program.
Upon reading it, I skimmed. I'm notorious for skimming when I read and missed an important thing. While there was a sentence that said all frogs could just wear green, I found that Leon was actually NOT a frog for this performance... WHOOPS.. He's a red winged blackbird.
AHHH!!! I found this out on Saturday. Leon helped me fashion a beak and he's happy with it. I just need to cover it with navy shiny fabric that I have.
But then the wings... He'll wear a black outfit underneath.
This reminds me of when Maddy was the Pistachio Queen and I toiled over the perfect cape for her.
I found the fabric in my stash and it will be silky and lightweight since I don't want the boy to pass out on stage...
This is what I'm using as my inspiration. Isn't it sweet?! I found it on Etsy.
I'll have elastic for him to hang on to the ends of the wings and attach it to the back of his shirt.
THEN, because I can never have too many items lined up for sewing projects... I have 2 pairs of slacks to hem and this tuxedo jacket to adjust for a friend of Meri's. He'll be wearing it to prom in a few weeks.
It's been a hell day at work today. Actually all weekend as I crammed some programming changes into my free time on Saturday and Sunday. BUT it's mostly done and I was able to deliver my product about 30 minutes ago for their review. WHEW! It'll get torn apart in my meeting in 11 minutes, but that's the life of a programmer...
Back to work. How was YOUR weekend? When I have more time, I'll share more of my weekend tomorrow.
