When we were at Maddy and Matthew's house in Wisconsin a while back, Maddy made Juicy Lucys.
She chopped up onions really small and added them to hamburger along with an egg and whatever else you like to add to your burger meat. Then she formed the burger wrapped around at least one slice or hunk of cheese. Then they grilled them.
Oh yum!!!! They were good!
So for Robb's birthday, they gave him a Miiko burger press and we made some juicy Lucys the other night.
Robb didn't add anything to the meat itself (he's such a purist), but made a little well in the Miiko press and put inside (of some) some cooked onions and folded up slice of cheese.
Whew! Those were good!
And Leon said he wanted one with onions in it... REALLY?!
This is the kid who hates veggies of any kind, even french fries on the odd day.
But he wolfed it down.
I'm wondering how to fit in cooked carrots inside of a burger without him noticing... hmmm...
Actually I could cut up cooked carrots and hide it in the meat mixture or he'd see it in the middle.
What's this orange stuff?!
And then never eat what I make him again.
Well... I'll figure out a way to make him grow up healthy. Flintstone vitamins are great but not a good substitute.
Anyway the Miiko is a hit and Leon asks for Miiko burgers as often as he can.
But how often do you have thawed hamburger just waiting?...

I do have thawed hamburger! We, I, like a version with cream cheese and green olives in the middle. We call it the grannys favorite because that's what it was on a bar and grill menu.
Yum. Gotta try.
