Halloween Happenings - Cripes

Well, the chili is in the crock pot and it smells GOOODDDD as well as tastes good.  I had a tiny taster bowl before I realized why I was so hungry.  I forgot to eat breakfast this morning!
I grabbed a pumpkin pie poptart around 10am.

I usually eat something while Leon is eating his breakfast, but Ryan and Jen were in the kitchen with him getting him ready for the day and I relaxed on the couch with my cappucino until it was time to take him.

I loaded up some things in the van to take to Meri's after I dropped off Leon and took the keys with me, thinking I'd warm it up a bit before we had to leave.  It's been cold here and we got a fresh dusting of snow last night.  But I suddenly realized I didn't have the keys anymore.  Checked everywhere in the van, the ground and back tracked to the house.  No where to be found!!!

Cripes.

I started moving all the stuff to the Sweetness car.  Went into to get Leon to grab his bag and come out AND grab the Sweetness keys.  Couldn't find them in the key bowl!!!!

Cripes.

Had Leon call Grandpa to see if he knew where the Sweetness keys were.
Yep - in his pocket.  He was going to take that car but then decided on the other.

Cripes.

I backtracked in my panic, thinking that Leon was going to miss the bus and I'd have to take him to school when and if I ever found a key to anything, when suddenly I saw the van key in the door pocket... REALLY?!?!?!!
I can only imagine that they bounced in when I dropped the keys into the front seat while putting things in the back seat...

Leon helped me reload the van with the stuff that I'd put in the Sweetness and we were off finally!  Actually made it to the bus on time!!!  We forgot to say our morning prayer tho.  I said one for us both as I drove away from the bus.  Give me patience!!!

I dropped off some library books for Grandma and then stopped by Meri's house.  She has 3 kids today and one of them takes a nap at 8am.  So as I logged into work and checked messages, I played with the baby and let the older boy hand me farm animals as Meri got the first boy down.

She seemed tired so I stuck around while she got the baby down for a nap too.  Back awake and then back asleep.  Then found out that she hadn't expected me to stick around.  Okie Dokey!  You don't have to tell me four times!

So I went home and got the van cleaned out.  Robb will be taking his mom to his sister's for a visit for two weeks.  AND bringing a couch back from the sister's so the seats in the van had to be folded into the floor.

I pulled the floor pad up to expose the cavity where the seats folds in and noticed lots of bits of garbage had sifted down into it over the last several years.  Well, I had the garbage bag with me, so I started clearing it out.  If I'd been in a mood, I'd have left it all.

Guess what I found tucked under a candy wrapper??!!!
The spare key for the van!!!!!!  And it still works!!!!

WHEW!  NOW we can get more spare keys made for it!  Apparently you need two working keys to make spares with this model.  YAY!
How long had we survived with just one key fob?!  too long.

I put it on a Bahamas key chain so we'll know that this is a working one.

All of my MIL's things for the next two weeks are now tucked into the van and they're ready when Robb is.

I'm also planning on attending Leon's school Halloween party this afternoon.  I love the kid parade through the lunch room and see all the creative kids!  and Elsas and ninjas and Fortnite characters...

Then handing out candy tonight sitting in the driveway, around the fire pit, burning slices of wood from Maddy and Matthew's wedding centerpieces.   Nobody has to know!!! ;)

Yesterday I made a cat scratching post out of 6-7 of them for Meri.  I should have taken a pic of it!

Anyway, back to work.  Have a great spooky Happy Halloween/Reformation Day!

I was wondering why you did not have two sets of keys! Now, I know, but I would never have asked. An 8 am nap? That must be nice!

Happy Halloween to you and yours. Hopefully the rest of your day won't be as insane as the start.

Oh the frustration of people putting keys in pockets. Use the darn table! I have apportion of leftover chili that I think will be my lunch.
