Show Stopper

Ok.  On Saturday, we're having a Style show at my ASG sewing meeting.  I'm sure it will be NOTHING like this...

But just so you know, I'll be modeling a tea length dress and blouse with ruffles...

PYP - Puppy Yard Proposals

Got a lot of work done in the yard over the weekend and took two loads of leftover leaves and yuck yard stuff out to the land fill.  Not done by a LONG shot...

The puppies got to go out into the yard for the first time!!!
Leon loved it and towed them around in his wagon.

They're in the bucket...  Otherwise they try to climb out.

Saturday night, Meri and I went with my ASG group to the ISU annual style show!  Such fantastic creativity!  As usual, I took pictures of almost every design to be used for inspiration later.

Meri found a few that could easily be her prom dress someday.  She's now scoping around to find out who she can make ask her to prom her freshman year...  The one on the right was a favorite.  LOVE that hem line!

Can't pass up a selfie with my Meri!!!

And get this!!!  At the tail end of the style show, the last model in the final lineup/parade/whatever it's called, got proposed to!!!  I almost started bawling!!    "We've been on so many adventures together..." he had a microphone. "Would you do me the honor of going on the next biggest adventure with me?"
Or something to that effect!

Found out right after this from someone squealing behind us, that I've actually MET this girl!  She modeled some of her designs at our December style show for my sewing group!  We're so happy for her!

Oh!  She nodded yes through her tears by the way.

Primus dies schola!

That means the "First Day of School" in Latin. Makes you feel smart to know that now, doesn't it? Educated almost?! Yeah - I did a Google translate on it...
Today was the first day of school. I almost felt like I was starting back to school as I prepared for the day and Meri helped me with morning chores. Took the girls pictures just before Maddy left and then finished breakfast. Drove Meri to school for the first day only!

Last night we got them new tennis shoes and a few new clothing items, some of which they're wearing. Wear something Mom made for the first day of school? no way! But no problem... I know they've got mom-made pencil bags and fanny packs in their bags.
Do you like Meri's new bookbag? Quite snazzy! and she still owes me a bit of cash for it because it cost more than the limit I'd put on them. But it will definitely stand out in a hall full of backpacks strewn every which way. Also her new look? She used chalk in her hair for the coloring and put on some glitter eye shadow before I knew she was going to do that. It's on a bit thick.. I just hope it doesn't flake down into her eyes during the day... Watery eyes are always attractive, huh?
We had a quick prayer before we all went our separate ways. Doesn't hurt to ask God to watch over these kids for the new school year!

I did love having them home over the summer, but it will be nice to spend more lunch time sewing rather than making sure they all get a decent lunch or woken up. And I'll just grab a quick salad before heading back to work.

Parent's meetings start already tonight! This year is starting out hopping!

The Show That Must Not Be Named...

We have Lifetime on our cable channel lineup... Much to my hubby's dismay.... In his opinion, 90% of the movies and programs on that channel bash men. Either the men are beating their wives and girlfriends or overly metro.

He's blocked it on the main floor tv so he won't accidentally click onto that channel. There are other reasons, but I won't go into them here.

Meri and I love to sew. That's a fact. Meri especially loves to design and get inspired by tv shows that are all about sewing. We're very into Project Runway.

Robb has another name for it, but I won't go into that here... But I will tell you about the official name he's given it.

Once she and I were talking about some of the characters on Project Runway and getting all excited and bummed out at the same time about contestants that had been kicked off or won. OOH! Cassanova's stuff is SO cool! I LOVE Mondo's designs! Gretchen and Ivy are evil! Did you see Valerie's dress? LOVE it! I can't believe Peach went home!!!We drove Robb crazy with our conversations about people he doesn't care to watch. It's like watching a fishing show to him. And he just doesn't want to get sucked into the creative drama that unfolds on each episode, so.. he forbade us to talk about it around him! In a joking manner of course.

So now, when Meri and I talk about Project Runway action and he asks what we're talking about, we answer The Show That Must Not Be Named. He named it that and knows immediately. He goes in the other room! :) We still talk about the contestants... We just don't name the show.

So honey! If you're reading this... LOVE yoU!

Anyway... I saw a website about one of the contestants that had been kicked off and she's got a major project going. Looks way cool! I saw that she had Facebook, so I checked it out. It's her personal one! Not just a business type fan-club thing. COOL! I asked her to be my Facebook friend. AND she accepted! So HA! She's got 3000 friends... what's one more?

When people ask me... How do you know her?

She's from The Show That Must Not Be Named!

Have a great weekend everyone!
