Saturday morning we attended the State Speech competition in Des Moines. We had 10 minutes between Maddy's boyfriends Choral Reading performance and her Musical performance so we were going to have to hoof it across this super huge high school to make it to hers in time. Then 30 seconds before said boyfriend's performance started I got a text from Maddy saying that her performance was being bumped 10 minutes earlier.
Um Yeah... Daughter trumps boyfriend. So we dashed! We made it in time and actually had to wait for a little bit before they started. Something about a judge wasn't back in time. While we waited, most of the boyfriends performance group showed up. They must have ran immediately after their performance to come see this one. Unfortunately no one told the boyfriend that it was a little earlier, so he missed it... oops.

I had a meeting in Des Moines afterwards, so Robb and Meri went on some errands while they waited for me. I'm going to be the new newsletter editor for my sewing group! Wow, huh? I hope I'm able to fill the shoes of the woman who did it before me... Or at the very least, be able to identify her shoes in a pile.*******
We hit the HuHot for lunch before heading home. Had some fun *sarcasm filter* which I won't tell you about... but suffice it to say, Meri's food was free and she got a free piece of their cheesecake which was awesome!*******
Saturday afternoon and evening, I got to sew. and sew. and sew. I finished the baptism gown completely and from what my sister said, I'll just bring it to the baptism in a couple weeks and not mail it. Yippee! I get to show it off at the next sewing meeting then!Maddy liked it and told me that I get to make one for her baby. *excuse me?* She then added the word "someday"...I also finished a sample confirmation dress for another niece in some purple cotton that I had available. Melanie emailed me the measurements and I based it on those. I'll do a fitting when I'm at the baptism, not during... but afterwards so I'll know if I need to make any adjustments before I cut into the good stuff.
It seems short to me... *******
Yesterday afternoon was a rush. Took Ryan out to lunch after church, ran some errands. Got home in time to change and head out to a friends house to work on a puzzle with her for a little bit. I'm pretty sure it will be 2013 before this puzzle is done... Do we talk too much?? Then Robb, Meri and I went to go see a movie while Maddy and her boyfriend attended a Super Bowl party. We're not that big into sports... But all I know is a bunch of my friends were pretty excited with the outcome... If what they type in on Facebook is any indication...

Movie review...
Gulliver's Travels with Jack Black
The Dollar theater was probably the best place to see this. Well, it was a fun way to spend 90 minutes... But you know... I'd read the book eons ago and kind of knew the gist of the story already. But it was a fun take. As we were walking to our car afterward, I asked Robb if Jack Black had it in his contract to always sing the song WAR in all of his movies. Then remembered this morning that it wasn't a Jack Black movie at all, it was one of the Agent Cody Banks movies. But I think it IS in his contract to show off his singing ability at least 5 times within each movie.
Jack, admit it... Is that true?
He's a follower... What can I say?
Apparently, did you know that you can end a war merely by getting the leaders together and dancing and singing the song WAR to them? Yep, the Brady Bunch solution. It makes them see the foolishness of their ways and they just laugh off their differences... I'm picturing at least 3 current leaders that this wouldn't phase...
Ahhhh... the simplicity of Hollywood...
I hope you all had a great weekend! Tell me about it!

I'm afraid Jack Black is getting the Vince Vaughn syndrome: same character in every movie. Ugh.
Congrats on becoming the editor for my sewing group. DO you do books? LOL
Have a great week and I still don't know how you get so much done.
And breath.............. wow were you busy, I have a wedding in a couple of weeks, any chance of a dress, your master pieces look amazing
You were so busy! I need a nap from just reading about your weekend.
So when is the cloning surgery going to happen?lol
Geez, I think you need to make a few real ugly custom dresses....maybe then some many folks won't be asking you to make so many dresses....yes, I am devious that way.lol
I do think you must be the busiest woman! Seriously, I am sometimes exhausted hearing about your weekends, but they sound like so much fun!!!!
Like the others, I'm tired reading what you have done this week-end. Wish I could say that I did just as much as you did, but I didn't. Laundry and more laundry, grocery shopping, some cleaning. Mainly how I spend most of my week-ends :o(
That gown is amazing... you are so talented.
I just wandered over to your blog because I realized you are following mine :)
It was cool to see that you live in Iowa also. I live north of Des Moines. Small world.
You make some beautiful stuff! I love to sew, but don't have the patience to make things that turn out perfect. Maybe someday :)
