Last night was the first cross country meet that Maddy participated in. If it were me, it'd be the last. But she's got gumption and better shoes than I.

With a crack of the gun, all 180+ girls were OFF running! With cross country stuff (which I mistakenly keep calling track and get reprimanded...) the kids take off for 2.5 miles through woods, across creeks, past angry coaches, encouraging parents, hot and cranky siblings, etc.

And of course me with a camera.

I love how her hair flies!
Oh and the obligatory shot of the grass. I don't know how I got that one...

It's finally over and her head DIDN'T explode! Altho her face was as bright as a
Baya Marisa apple.
A modern red-fleshed apple variety with a good flavor, developed in Germany, and also known as Tickled Pink.

Her placing... Let's just say she didn't come in fourth from the BEGINNING. But this is her first year and she definitely ran the whole way instead of walking, as some girls did. AND she didn't throw up, as some girls did. OR cry, as some girls did. Her team as a whole did very well.
I am a
track cross country mom now!

I would have thrown up AND cried.
Yay! I love running, then you can eat whatever you want & not feel guilty ;)
I'd not make it half a block! As I remind Kat all the time, "Memaw don't run!"
Yay! Cross country must be the same everywhere. Jacob only went to public school his senior year and ran CC. It was quite an experience. Turned him into a lifelong runner I believe. Good for Madeline!
Congrats & Kudos! (I'm having a side-ache for her!)
Good going Maddy! I would have been the runner who did all the things she didn't do!
I would have exploded and maybe peed a bit. God bless her!
Good for her. I'm more of a walk don't run kinda gal - always have been. In gym my motto was why get all sweaty?
Leann
But the question is did she enjoy it.......... I always used to run as slow as possible, now I push myself in the gym we just don't make sense............
So awesome! Tell her I said great job!!! She'll be coming in in first place in no time!! :-)
Blessings,
Jill
