Yearly Review: Part 2: 2011

Second installment of the 2011 review! SEE Mimi?? I'm trying to follow the rules!!!

Let's see here...

April came around and I FINALLY finished Maddy's prom dress!!!! She was SEW excited and hauled it off to a friends immediately to try on dresses together. More on that in a bit.

Meri and a friend as well as Ryan, Tiffany & I met up with my ASG (American Sewing Guild) ladies for a day at the ISU annual style show! Took pictures of everything that inspired me. OK - of everything...Maddy was in so many jazz band competitions, it was mind boggling. We'll be going through that again this spring! Oh and just for the record, Maddy has learned how to play the accordion for this year's jazz band... I have NOT seen her play yet, but look forward to it.But we're looking backwards, so I'm shutting up about that for now...

I made all three Easter dresses for the girls this year, but kind of rushed on a couple. When am I NOT in a rush? And then there was prom! Meri and I went to the Grand March and saw all the couples come in and get introduced before they went off to the building where the prom itself was going to be held. Maddy and her date looked great! As did all of her friends! I took pictures of every dress that inspired me. Ok, all of them...I shared a story about my Mom & Dad and the adventures they had with the spring winds and lawyer papers! I love those guys!

Went to the Pella Tulip festival and watched the parade all alone. I just do things like that... Actually my husband was marching in the parade in a kilt and sweating up a storm. I took way too many pictures...In May, the BIGGEST news of the year, well so far anyway... was that Meri's dog Ellie had 8 puppies immediately after we came home from Meri's school concert. What a night THAT was! 8 spotted puddles!!!Our lives were taken over by 8 little bundles of poopys puppies. Each day the clean up process took longer and longer. Meri showed them off to anyone who came to the house and we even took them to the local town parade in a kiddy pool to "advertise" them. No one who saw them that day purchased one, but it WAS a novelty...

After they were old enough to sell, we put an ad in the Des Moines paper and the puppies were gone within 4 days. A.Mazing!
The original Octo-Mom...

Meri was pretty upset for a while that we didn't keep any, but criminy! A dozen dogs in the same house is a wee bit much... She then counted up her money and deposited it all and was much happier about the situation. Ellie was kind of moody and depressed afterward too, and she didn't get anything out of it except a bunch of petting and sympathy.

Robb and I celebrated 23 years of married bliss! We're as surprised as anyone who attended our wedding that it's lasted THIS long! ;)

I told about some memories of stories of the Wolf Witch saga that Robb had made up to entertain the kids on car trips.

Meri got her red/black belt in Taekwondo during this time!!! Kickin' it old style now!I found out that a friend of mine had NEVER heard of Twin Bing candy bars!!!! I grew up in the town where they were practically BORN and was basically weened onto them. Ok, granted she grew up in Ireland and lives in Oman, on the other side of the world... but wow. She doesn't know what she's missing. And if you have never tried them, let me know and I'll do a giveaway someday. It's winter... They'll ship without melting, right?

And then my son turned 20.My parents went on a cruise with my sister and her family so I made her a couple pairs of shorts, a skirt & a top for the adventure. She loved them and felt comfortable in them. So that was good.Well... that's my wrap up of that quarter of the year. JUST you WAIT for the next quarter! Things REALLY heat up!

That's only a quarter of a year? Wow.

"I took way too many pictures." That sounds like my 9yo whom I let photograph the local parade while Nora slept in my arms. He took a picture of EVERY single entry including all the horses INDIVIDUALLY. We live in a horse town so that was a little over the top.
