It's A Sunday School Story

I teach a very small preschool class at church. I LOVE it! The kids are so sweet and hug me on occasion. There are three little ones. On Christmas Day, we didn't have class and the next week, all three were out of town, so we didn't have class that week either.

So yes... Two weeks after Christmas, I'm teaching about how Jesus was born. It's ok to get a little behind, right?? I asked them how their Christmases were and what their favorite present was.One little girl looked like she wanted to tell me, but another girl interrupted and said that she had gotten a huge Barbie dollhouse. COOL! The first girl looked perturbed. Then the little boy jumped up and told me in almost gibberish because he was so excited that he had gotten a play kitchen! And I only understood what he was saying because his mom had already told me earlier...

Then the first girl that hadn't told me what she got yet said in a grumbly voice and her head low like she was angry, "I got a broken kitchen..."

*crickets*

Well I'm sure your Daddy can fix it for you... "No, he can only fix cars."

Okey dokey then!

Chuckling about it, I talked to her mom later and told her what E had said. She started laughing and said that she hadn't gotten a kitchen at all, but the girl was very angry that she hadn't gotten a dollhouse she'd wanted even though she already had three.

So little did I realize that we'd struck a nerve...
