Subtlety Is My Specialty

Guess what I did last night? I mean between times of complaining about this darn cold in our house... and mowing... and laundry...?

I got to sew on the prom dress!!!

Maddy was thrilled! Prom is coming up in T-25 days. *what does that "T -" mean??...* I took the pieces of the dress to one of my smaller sewing groups last week and got some advice on dart manipulation for the bust. Since the bodice is basically ruched fabric for the outer layer with no darts, I was perplexed on how to make this fit a young woman. Rather than just stretching it around to fit and hoping for the best...They suggested putting some gathering on the left and right side and fit the bodice with those types of "suggested" darts rather than real ones. GOOD idea! * It'll be subtle.*

So last night, I didn't tackle that part at all. I ironed all three layers of the skirt and sewed them together basting twice at the waist. Pulled it together and then hunted down Maddy.
Maddy went to try it on in front of a full length mirror and so far so good! When she came back up, the skirt was pulled up as if it were THE dress. She's thinking maybe just that belted. *I don't think so...*

So today I'm working on housecleaning in my spare time. Easter weekend coming up with company coming. Looking forward to coloring some eggs with the kiddies along with some nieces and nephews. Then watching my annual viewing of The Passion on Saturday. I think last year I missed seeing it. Too much was going on.

Besides cleaning for that... One of the dogs pulled an entire laundry basket of clothes into his kennel last night, shredding a few things plus the basket. *I won't say which one but his name rhymes with DUKE...* Then he discovered his kennel door wasn't even latched so he went and left a few gifts for us around the house. *because chewing on clean clothes can make you sick* Two of the kitchen rugs are now on the deck after I hosed them down this morning.

I know what I get to do over lunch... *Probably lose it...*

Here is the baby shot of the day... Ryan brought him out to me to hold while he ran and got the last 3 days worth of mail. Every time I drove past the mail box, I just shrugged and muttered something about I'll get it twice tomorrow... *It's a locked box... It'll be fine...*

So to reward my laziness, I got to hold Leon a wee bit this morning. Just gave him back and got a new pic of him in all his sleepy glory. Well.. he was 30 seconds earlier...

He doesn't smell the best...

The dress is going to look fabulous. I about lost the lunch I was eating while reading about your laundry. Yikes. And that sweet baby face? Well, he makes me smile.

That sweet baby makes up for all the laundry mess. ☺ Can't wait to see the dress!

PS..."T" means time, as in 'time until launch'.

I'm on lunch break from painting the kitchen cabinets. T-minus 7 minutes until I must get up and get painting the 2nd coat! Happy Tuesday! ☺

Okay, that dress is coming together. I'm getting less nervous.
And now you got me all excited to start some major cleaning around the house. Yes, I do get excited about that!

Can't wait to see the dress finished! I so understand about the dog! Having 4 we have lots of "mishaps" lol. I've been cleaning all afternoon but decided to take a break and catch up on reading blogs :-)
Have a great night!

Blessings,
Jill

I've been doing cleaning this week too. What a great way for me to be spending my spring break :o( I have the main floor windows cleaned, curtains washed, iron and hung back up on this level too. The problem with cleaning windows is you do see another job that needs to be done, so you do it, then you end up working all day and not getting the original job complete. Here's to me getting the upstairs windows done tomorrow because I'm too tired to do it today. Yes I worked that hard on Monday.

He's so stinkin' cute.
I can't wait to see the dress when it's done!
I really wish my cold would leave. The sinus pressure is killing me!

Would someone please reward my laziness with a baby, please.

Sorry-the dress is AMAZING! I got so excited about the thought of getting a baby for laziness that I almost forgot how perfect the dress was. Almost.
