Tuesday: Botanical Center!
Meri, Leon, Robb and I dropped off the extra dishes of Irish goodies at my friends house before leaving the house for the day. Then we headed to the Botanical Center in Des Moines.
It was gorgeous! Gave me a taste for spring that I hadn't felt in a LONG time!!!
Ok, a year!
Bringing the stroller was a waste of time...
And we probably let Leon throw about $10 worth of change into the pools...
He is SO good at it and said "uh oh" appropriately with each coin that he dropped in.
Wednesday: My home town!
The same crew took off for my home town in western Iowa to see my parents and sister's family for lunch. Got there early enough to do a *little* shopping with my mom and sister before picking up some "bake at home" pizzas with the rest of the gang. My mom had a procedure done yesterday to find out why she was a couple quarts low on blood a few weeks ago. They didn't find anything... SO some x-rays are scheduled for 2 weeks from now. It was so good to see them!
My daddy!
Thursday: COLLEGE visit!
Mad, Meri, Leon, Robb and I headed to Minnesota! Robb and the girls had already done a campus visit to this college and I was feeling a little left out of the process. I was very impressed with the college, chapel, cafeteria, teachers, dorms, and all. I really feel like I'd love to go to college there too... BUT since I couldn't teach a dog to sit, this teacher's college is probably not for me. Maybe it's just the atmosphere of a college that I'm missing.
THEN we met with the financial advisor and all those feelings of nostalgia went away... for a little while!
View of the town from way up at the top of the hill where the college is. I didn't take too many pics on this day. Too much going on!
Leon was quite the big man on campus! After ripping a page out of a book during chapel, he threw a football that a campus secretary had given him a few rows up. Then we found out he can say Hi now as if he has a southern drawl. HA! He said it to everyone coming through the front doors while waiting with Robb and Meri while Mads and I met with a teacher. It must be the Southern influences of his Georgian mother.
Of course everyone loved him! If Maddy wants to take him to college with her, she'll always have friends around her. But she will anyway and I'd miss him too much, so he should stay here!
Except for the last 30 minutes of the trip on this day, he was a super trooper traveler! But it gets old...
