I'm gonna pop some tabs!
Should it bother me that my girls know the words to a song that has terrible lyrics? They don't say the BAD words when they're singing it to me... And apparently they know a pseudo-Christian version of it that they found on Youtube.
The lyrics are funny unless the singer is serious...
"I"m gonna go to church, Only got 20 minutes til the service. I saved a puppy, gonna tithe my money, I'm an awesome Christian!" Video below if you want a laugh!
Yeah... That Christian has some serious 'splainin' to do... Because he's sounding pretty self-righteous... :\
Anyway, when the girls and I hit our city-wide garage sales last weekend, Maddy hit the jackpot and I can't remember if she found this book for 25 cents or if it was in a free box, but she got new music to pound on the piano with!
When she's bored, she'll sit at the piano and sight-read music and you cannot believe how many times I've caught myself singing along with oldies from Singing In The Rain (we happen to have the whole book of songs from that musical)! "Good Morning, Good morning! We've talked the whole night through, good morning, good morning to you!" I used to sing it to the kids as "You've slept the whole night through". It's one of Maddy's favorite movies.
But now she has some new stuff to play and the music is really gorgeous! There are so many old old old songs that I'd never heard of in this book. I think I'd only heard of 1 or 2... There are songs from the movie/play Carmen in it as well as lots of others. It's thick... The words are with the songs and once in a while Meri will sing along while Maddy plays.
The other night I was in the kitchen with Robb and we heard them playing from the book and singing together. It was one of those ideal moments that you have to stop and savor, capturing it in your heart.
Because we're going to miss that in the fall when she heads off to college.
Yeah, I'm crying right now...

Yes, savor each and every moment now. Put them in your memory bank for safe keeping. Jacob moves out on Saturday. Almost 22 years living in this house and I don't know how I'm going to handle it! Deep breath.
I sing "Good Morning" to Ethan on mornings when I know he's going to have a hard time getting up. He just groans and tried to hide his smile under his pillow. ;)
Some of our favorite songs are from old songbooks like that. Precious treasures for sure.
So get where you're coming from......
That parody of thrift store was really good. Great production values too.
Have you seen the toy store parody too?
I love that you shared a moment that you saved in your heart. You are so blessed.
That video did give me a good laugh!
