I Rue The Day...

I think I get my car back tonight!!!  Robb has Maddys.  She has his.  Mine is off in Des Moines on loan to the owner of the leftover car.  I have the leftover car that no one wants to drive, not even it's owner.

This morning I drove the leftover car that you can only open the driver's door, if you roll down the window and reach for the outside handle.  And if you're the passenger and can't roll the window down because of frozen drizzle, you need someone else to come around and open the door for you.  And if you get in and don't realize all the windows are frozen shut, you're kind of stuck until the defrost kicks in!

Driving people around in it is reminiscent of a chauffeur kind of job.  Meri didn't feel as honored by that as I thought she might be this morning when I dropped her off at school...

Don't stop for at least half a block further Mom!

Maybe she's getting into the phase of being embarrassed by her parents.  You know the phase, when the mom has to slouch down in the drivers seat so no one will see exactly who is dropping you off.  When I can't wave out the window anymore when she's with friends, and yell, "Hey Honey Snookums!  Did you brush your teeth this morning?!"  or "Did you find the clean underwear in the laundry basket??"

Why do I feel like Erma Bombeck somedays?  I'm pretty sure she embarrassed her kids too by asking her kids friends parents for funny stories.

I guess I have to resign myself to the fact that I am now an embarrassment and an eye sore for my children.

Or maybe it's just the car...

Ha! I can see you sitting there waiting on the first thaw. You need your car back!

Oh, and I remember my mama pulling up in front of the high school my ninth grade year and leaning over to give me a kiss. Thankfully, I avoided the kiss and humiliation. But then she thought it was fun to watch my reaction so I had to be quick! She had a new Thunderbird so it wasn't the car...

It's not you, its the car!
I think that we all need to embarrass our kids a bit!
I would love to see pictures of the car that no one wants.

Let's just blame it on the car! My kids are still young. My oldest is 9 years old. Oh, I parish the day that they don't want to be seen with their mommy! I can hug and kiss them whenever I want, so I will hang on to these fleeting years!
