Black Eyed Susan Weekend

The cough is still hanging on...

Friday night, I made pizza for Robb, his brother, his mom, Meri and me.  Still have lots left over...

Saturday, Robb, his brother and I drove an hour away to test drive a car.  Robb had been agonizing over what car to buy for a couple weeks now and there are probably 20 new bookmarks on that laptop by now for car dealerships all over Iowa.  He had heard of this car place from another brother that had bought some decent cars with a little hail damage from them a few years ago so we had to check it out.

I should have gotten a picture of this place!  It reminded me of Warehouse 13...  It was a huge warehouse with cars backed in every nook and cranny.  The one we wanted was right in the middle...  So we weren't sure we were going to get to test drive it, but the guy said, no problem.  It took ten minutes and there was a clear path to drive it out.  AMAZING!

The car test drove great but had a check engine light on.  They checked it out when we got back and we're not interested in purchasing a car with that many issues.   While we were waiting for the light to get checked out, we explored some of the billion cars in this building.  On one side of a car, it looked perfect!  WOW!  I wonder what's wrong with this one!  But all you had to do was walk on the other side and the whole back corner was crushed into bits.  Aha...  If I had an auto mechanic/body shop hobby in my garage, I'd have so purchased one to work on for the next ten years.  But I don't have that expensive of hobbies, so I'll pass.  There were some cars that had been submerged...  But they didn't look it!

We got home in time for Meri and I to do a garbage run and do a little shopping.  When we got home, Robb wanted to go test drive another car closer to home.  So while Meri got her moped flag fixed and tried out, we headed out to try this one.  It was in our price range and was beautiful!  It drove great until we were getting onto the interstate and suddenly felt a shudder run through the car.  What in the heck was that??  If I had Sonya's imagination, I'd said that an alien being lived within the cars bowels.  But Robb and a couple Google searches later, we think it was the transmission...

Um yeah...  I don't think we need THAT cars issues either!

On Saturday night, we had super secret steak night and Robb's brother and his two girls and a fiance came over.  Fun time and we didn't leave the table until almost 9pm...  That's with the time change we were anticipating later in the evening...  Amanda tried on her veil and loves it!  Sarah took pics of it on her.  I have a couple loops to sew on for bobby pins but then it's almost a wrap!  I need to make an identical bow to sew onto a comb all by itself for the reception.  It's half way done already.

Sunday, after church, the weather was gorgeous!!!  We had a quick late lunch, and after getting Leon down for a nap, which he insisted he didn't need, I lay down to relax a little with a Netflix show I'd been watching.  I found myself not following the story line at ALL and woke myself up several times with a snore...  That is a sure sign I needed a nap!  I set the alarm, incorrectly, and slept for about 30 minutes.  I'm glad Robb called me when he did!  Meri and I almost slept through a 4H meeting!  We headed out to my bestie's after that.

We finally moved the free cast iron bath tub into my office that afternoon.  I cleaned it out and filled it with a bean bag chair, a couple cushions and blankets.  Also a shelf full of books for Leon to sit and read in it when he comes out for a visit.  He should have fun in his little space!

Leftovers for supper and lots of laundry later, we were exhausted.  Maddy came home about 11:10pm and woke us up like we'd planned.  YAY!!!  She's home from her ten day choir spree across the midwestern states!!!

On Saturday she and her choir had sung in the Wisconsin State capitol building and the video sound was gorgeous!!!  If you're friends on FB, I shared it on my wall.  We heard lots of fun stories until we had to kick her out.  She was hopped up on ten cups of coffee, so she went and woke up Meri too who didn't remember the conversation this morning.

Maddy got a lunch packed this morning and headed off to student teach at a nearby elementary school for the week.  She'll be back each night.  YAY!  Spring breaks are awesome!

Had to get our first day of school photo of her!  Sorry it's blurry and sorry there were no black eyed Susans backing her up!

I'm looking forward to hearing more stories of her adventure when she gets home!

Well, off to work for me!  What did you do this weekend?

Amazing video! I'll pray that cough will leave soon. The tub!! Leon will have to love his reading nook. I would love to curl up and read a book in there myself. Cars. I hate looking for a new/used vehicle. Jacob is having trouble with his. At least he's in town and could borrow one of ours. This weekend I enjoyed spring like weather and cleaned out papers and books. Still a lot to go, but it's a start.

She looks adorable!!!! Anna was nervous when she had to student teach for the first time.
And I'm sure that I could come up with something for transmission problems but it would have to e something like a virus that humans could catch.
