Friday night. I don't remember. It's been so long ago...
But Saturday, WOO BOY!!! That was a doozy. So much of a doozy that my feet hurt that night when I limped into bed.
Robb got up before the crack of dawn and took our new mini van down to Kansas City to get worked on by our BIL. It had a few issues that we knew about when we bought it and Greg is a car wizard! Robb came back in one of their cars later that night.
But that morning, I did quick garbage run and purchased a water softener, however it's not supposed to lay on it's side, so I scheduled to pick it up later in the day. Got home in time to get Meri and Leon hustled out the door. We were meeting his other grandparents at the local Easter egg hunt.
On the way there, Leon asked about the Easter bunny.
Then he said, "The bunny HIDES eggs?? That bunny not nice!"
Looking at the bunny now, I think he's right! Hiding the eggs?? Why would someone DO that??
Meri had taken a shower mere seconds before we walked out the door... So her hair was still wet.
Leon got to frost and decorate cookies, get a tattoo of a dinosaur hatching out of an egg and a couple other activities before the big shindig.
Leon and his other grandma watched the 0-2 year olds scavenge for their eggs before his turn.
When it was time for the 3-5 year olds, there was a MOB of people and their kids swarming into the room. I got blocked so I hung back for a little bit until the smoke cleared. The hunt went as I expected. 600 kids (ok - maybe 30) totally cleaned that floor of eggs. We lost track of Leon for a second and when we found him, his bag had been dropped and he was concentrating on opening a piece of candy that he'd found in his first egg. I guess he had to see what was in it. So he got ONE egg. Yep!
Oh and the cookie from earlier.
He also got over his freaked-outed-ness about the Easter bunny. Under that costume was a friend of Meri's. Meri was actually supposed to be helping out because it was one of her school groups that organized the egg hunt... Oops! Oh well, she was needed at home.
There IS an explanation for this one...
The group had set up lots of games for the little ones and Leon had a blast playing basketball, pin the tail on the bunny, a toss game, picking up duckies and tossing eggs into nests. He got more candy from that.
But most of all, his grandparents had a huge Easter basket in their car for him with two Lego kits, tons of filled plastic eggs and a bubble machine that drives itself around the driveway spitting bubbles! We've already run out of the bubble stuff...
After that, Meri and I took Leon to get a hair trimming, went out for lunch, thrifted just a little, then headed home to get him down for a nap. While he was napping, I high tailed it back to Lowes and picked up the water softener with the pick up. I had to figure out how to use those ratchet straps in a hurry, when the thing blew over in the wind on the way home. Darn. I hope it's not hurt! I guess we'll find out! It currently resides in the dining room. Maybe next week we'll install it. I don't know...
Spent a lot of the evening doing yard work while Leon chased the bubble maker all over the drive way. It was a beautiful day except for the wind! Got all the holes in the fences filled in with dirt and I dumped a quart of red pepper flakes all around the fence. I ran out on the one side, but I figured, eh.
Oh and EH was the WRONG thing to think! Last night, I saw the blinkety blankety dog trying to dig a new hole on the side with no pepper flakes! I'm stealing Ryan's stash and will fix that this evening...
Sunday, Robb, Meri, Leon and I headed to Western Iowa to witness a nephews confirmation and have dinner with his family, friends and my parents. I got to hold my niece, Naomi's newest baby! Then visited at the nursing home for a while during which Robb and my sister's husband put together a computer desk for Mom's room. It is SO cute! I think she'll like it. While they did that, Mom and I went over the features on her new laptop and found the documents she wanted to work on.
It was so great to see Dad actually WALKING!! He was using a walker, but now has permission to put weight on the leg that he'd broken. Oh and he had gall bladder surgery on Friday, so he was a real trooper to be out and about walking all over the place! This three months since his train accident has really cruised right by! It didn't feel like it at the time, but I remember that first night at the hospital like it was last weekend...
We got home in time to get the dogs outside before they had a royal conniption and for Meri to watch the season finale of The Walking Dead. She has been sworn to not tell us until we have a chance to watch it too.
Now on to this week. Maddy and her roommate comes home this week for Easter break!! WOOHOO!!! I can't wait! Looking forward to some time with my girl!
Oh and Mabs... you, me and Meri are singing special for one of the services this week... Did I mention that to you?? Yeah, we'll talk more later...
What'd you guys do this weekend?

Seems that he is having a good time...
That was a lot to pack in a weekend.
I'm glad to hear that your dad is doing better. It's been a long road.
I loved reading all this. But what I really loved reading was how well your daddy is doing now even after gall bladder surgery! What a praise!
