Weekend Update
On Friday, over lunch, I took Leon swimming. The pool was just opening for the day and there were about two daycare centers there with their kids. Leon knew half of them and was yelling their names in hello. As we walked into the pool area, two other kids were yelling Leon's name and lo and behold, his two actual oldest friends were in the pool!!! Henrichs and Makiah, whom Leon only refers to as a combined name. Leon is in love with Makiah and she's on his marriage list. We only stayed until the adult swim and then both her and her brother gave Leon big hugs goodbye! So cute! I'm sure Henrichs will give that up in another year or two as he progresses in school.
So, it was a good time and Leon didn't leave the pool in tears. He actually left the pool with ketchup on his face because he had a corn dog before leaving.
That morning, Meri said she was actually going to be HOME that evening for once!!! WOOHOO!!! Then I found out that Robb had plans that evening, so I cooked up some plans for me and my youngest. I found 4 movies that I wouldn't mind seeing and made special calzones for supper for each person. Popped hers and mine into a container and since she wasn't answering my texts at her work, I just showed up. Parking the car next to hers and checking my phone while waiting for her to get done. She was pretty surprised as she's not allowed to check her phone unless she's in the restroom! And she's always up for a movie! Of course she chose the horror movie. YIKES! But it was fun to hang out with her. Her laughing uproariously at certain parts of the movie cracked me up. I think she was laughing at how high she jumped in her chair rather than the movie itself. For the record, I don't recommend this particular flick. and I'm not even going to mention it's name. Other than it being the most sacrilegious movie I've seen in the last decade.
I see a lot of cartoons...
Saturday
Maddy and Matthew celebrated their first anniversary!! Pulling out pics to share on FB pushed my memories back to the day vividly. What a beautiful day! Those two are very happy together and I couldn't be happier for them.
Now that they've settled in their own house that they can put nails in the walls and not be worried, they have asked for Duke, our 11 year old golden retriever, to come live with them! So on Saturday, I took him to the vet for his shots and tomorrow, he'll get all shampooed up and brushed out.
Duke will be a Wisconsinite within a matter of weeks.
Also on Saturday, Robb and I loaded up a broken dryer, a couple old printers and several other items to take uptown where there was a scrap metal team collecting it all. I hadn't realized that there would be a line, but apparently everyone was cleaning out their garage on Saturday.
I also did a garbage run then got back to work on the curtains for Maddy's house. They're ALL done now! I'll get a pic of the stack of curtains before I get them shipped off. Hopefully today.
That evening, Robb, my mother-in-law and myself had tickets to see the local theater's production of Mary Poppins. Meri had a one liner in the play and sang in the chorus. Even though, for personal reasons, I have issues with the whole concept of Mary Poppins... the play was a good time!
However the seats and temperature were something else totally! It was so sweaty in there and to sit in those seats for 3 hours. Well... let's just say, my chairs are extra padded today.
Sunday.
After church, Meri and I stopped for some groceries and Robb took a friend home. I actually SAT ON THE COUCH and had some time to go through some Burda mags, dreaming up something to make for me! It was a fail. twice. I'm attempting some zip up shorts. Apparently my body requires shorts that hold in the gut. Now that I've got my pattern re-rigged, I'll try it with denim instead of light weight cotton. sigh...
After I got supper on the stove, kielbasa, sauerkraut and potatoes, I was on a chopping roll and kept going. Maddy had reminded me of the fridge salads when we were there last weekend, so last week, Meri and I tried it for lunches during the week. It was a hit!
So I made up about 9 more for the week. I even found small plastic containers to hold the salad dressings and popped a poppy seed packet in each one. The only thing they're missing is meat and I don't want that to sit on the lettuce all week, so I'll make small baggies with the meats and she can grab whichever she wants to go along with her salad each day.
Chicken, pepperonis, ham, tuna, whatever.
Oh! Last week, I also whipped up a batch of mosquito spray. Since I wasn't outside much last week, I can't really tell if it's working. But as I sprayed it around the deck and Leon's play areas, the wind kicked it back on me and I came in the house smelling like stale minty beer. ...
So now I have several beers left... Anyone drink the stuff? I don't. blech.
AND I have roughly a gallon of the stuff left. Not sure where I should spray it all. Maybe just dump it in the yard. It'll smell like we had a kegger! And no mosquitos!! Hopefully.
So that was my weekend. I have to wake the boy up soon as I have a dentist appointment this morning to get my crown fitted. Yay me.

Those kind of crowns should come diamond encrusted as they cost as much as the other kind. lolz
Hmmmm.....I will be looking up that mosquito repellent. I am all about the homemade/natural stuff. My daughter and I do the salad thing for lunches during the school year. I usually prep all of it on Sunday afternoons. It is a great thing for the week and healthier than school lunches... which are gross! lol
We have a scrap metal place in town where they pay you for it by pound. Donnie made $90 on day when he cleaned out all the old lawn mower blades and a couple of other things!
Happy anniversary to those two! I love fridge jar salads. Just grab and go. Nothing like it when you have to cook all the time!
